AIRSEP Kits For Naturally Aspirated Engines |
Download the PDF of this article |
10/20/2008 - The November 2008 Power & Motoryacht magazine article shows it's never been easier to equip your naturally aspirated diesel engines with a Walker AIRSEP. |
Some of the most fuel efficient vessels available today are cruisers and fishing vessels that are powered by naturally aspirated diesel engines. While certainly in today's economic climate we may be keeping our older vessels for a little longer.
That means more and more boat owners are looking at upgrading their older engines to be aligned with modern emission standards.
Walker responds to that interest by offering a wide assortment of AIRSEP and Fuelsep packages for any naturally aspirated engine made. Retrofit kits are available for Ford-Lehman, CAT, Detroit Diesel, and Cummins engines not equipped with turbo chargers.
BEFORE AND AFTER
Before installation of the Walker AIRSEP.
Here we can see a Detroit Diesel 8v71 naturally aspirated engine shown with the stock air filter box, and oily blow-by tube terminating near the filter box.
After installing a Walker AIRSEP retrofit kit this 8v71 engine is cleaner, greener, and performs better due to the lower crankcase pressure the AIRSEP system places on the engine.
The engine is shown with an AIRSEP installed on each bank, a Walker adapter plenum, and the advanced vacuum regulators found on all late model Walker AIRSEP systems.
